Welcome to the November Roundup ladies and gentlemen, what a month full of historic entertainment, sunrise-sunset shows, sports violence and anticipation for December! Many of us began to slowly switch off when we saw that November had finally arrived because we all finally realized that after a long year, Christmas was almost at our front door step. What is the use of going to school, or doing the dishes, or going to work with the holidays around the corner?
But we were all soon brought back down to earth on November 9, when internet history was made when Logan Paul fought KSI for the second time after their first bought ended in a draw. This time the event took place in a sold-out Staples Center in LA where the 'Nightmare' KSI took the crown in a split decision which had the whole of the UK dancing on top of Logan Paul's grave. But this win didn't come without controversy, in the 4th round Logan Paul hit his opponent in the back of the head after he was down, which he later referred to as a simple 'love tap', which saw the American have a questionable two points deducted by referee Jack Reese. Feel free to tell me who you thought was going to win and whether you thought the points deduction was fair or not.
On the topic of historic events, Coldplay (remember that British band with that song called 'Yellow'?), played two shows in one day in Jordan to celebrate the release of their new album 'Everyday Life' which we shall get to later. What was so symbolic about these concerts was that one of them was played as the sun rose majestically behind the band who played their new hits such as 'Orphans' and 'Champion Of The World', and the other was played as the sun set behind them as lead singer sung old hits such as 'Fix You' and 'Paradise' out for the crowd to sing.
Yes, yes, they did play two amazing concerts in one day but that doesn't mean that the music played in them was very good. Of course, their old hits are absolute classics but this new album has many, including me, scratching our heads. Many of the songs have the same beat and light-hearted lyrics which we aren't used to seeing from the band.
Later this month, frontman Chris Martin told the press that the band would not be touring with this album until they found a way to do it carbon neutrally. This is of course very noble and aware of him but we want to see them play music even if these new songs are weak compared to the old ones. And also doesn't he want to make bucket loads of money by touring, but well done Coldplay for being the only musicians that are aware of this issue but also congratulations for pissing off every single soul in your fan base.
November also saw one of the biggest brawls in sport take place in the Thursday Night Football clash between the Steelers and the Browns. It all started when Mason Rudolph of the Steelers seemed to be chatting some trash to Miles Garrett of the Browns who got so pissed off by his opponents comments that we lunged at the man, took of Rudolph's helmet and proceeded to swing at Rudolph's head with his very own helmet! In the few moments after this happened, Pouncey, one of Rudolph teammates, separated the two and started punching the hell out of Garrett and even added a few kicks to the mix too. This incident resulted in a fine for both franchises for the actions of their players, a season ban for Garrett, backlash for Rudolph because many members of the public thought he may have used a racial slur which prompted his opponents outburst of emotion, and Pouncey got a two or three game ban. This left both fan bases, the whole of the NFL, both head coaches wondering where it all went wrong.
Have a good Christmas and I'll see you all at the end of December!
