December has been a long month but has not been short of action. This month saw the rise of rants on the most awaited movie of the year, a 15 year old who is slowly changing world get big time recognition, multiple celebrities get awards and a big country get banned from sports.
To kick off the roundup, let's talk about movies. December 13th saw the release of Jumanji: The Next Level, which was of course not as good as it's predecessor released in 2017 starring the likes of Dwayne Johnson and Jack Black and it was a comedic masterpiece. This time around we witnessed The Rock doing his impression of Danny De Vito and it had us (no offence, you're great) cringing on our knees and some of the jokes didn't land like they were supposed to. But the most awaited movie of the month was without a doubt, Rise of Skywalker the last film of the Skywalker saga but it wasn't the lengthy, tense, action packed film the fans were expecting. The film should have been way longer, more satisfying and full of fake deaths and cheap comebacks. Let's face it, the comeback of the Emperor was awful! It ruins Vader's sacrifice at the end of Return of the Jedi! But the worst movie of the year came out a week ago full of popular celebrities such as Taylor Swift and Jason Derulo, by the name of 'Cats'. And my God, it was awful! Do not go watch it!
December was the month of awards. Drake was said to be the most streamed artist of the decade with 28 billion streams on Spotify and 'Shape of You' was the most streamed track of the decade with 2.4 billion streams. Messi and Megan Rapione won the Ballon D'Or prizes for being the best male and female players on the 2nd of December. But the big one was that Greta Thunberg, the Swedish climate change activist, was announced as the Time's Magazine Person of the Year and who can blame them for picking her? She isn't even an adult and she's already changing the world, she is an inspiration to kids and grown ups alike and she did what every human being wants to do - confront Donald Trump.
A lot happened this month and I need to get some sleep so here is a quick roundup of the rest; Christmas was pretty awesome, the Patriots are finally playing in a Wildcard, Russia was banned from every sporting event until the end of 2020 and Boris Johnson is the Prime Minister of the UK.
Happy New Year and see you in the new decade!
